Autistic Lived Experience Peer Supporter Coordinator

Salary: £18.00 per hour

Location: Remote (UK-based) 

Start date: As soon as possible (Subject to a satisfactory DBS check and 2 references)
Interviews : Interviews are expected to start the week commencing the 29th of June 

 

We are hiring for a Peer Support Coordinator to join our small Autistic-led team at Autistic Parents UK.

This role will be responsible for supporting the delivery and ongoing development of our Peer Support Project, including supervising and supporting our team of peer supporters and volunteers, coordinating peer support services for autistic parents across the UK, and helping ensure services remain compassionate, inclusive, and user-led.

We are looking for someone with lived experience of being Autistic and being a parent or primary caregiver, alongside experience in peer support, community services, or similar roles. 

​

The role is currently funded until October 2027, with the potential for extension subject to future funding.

​

Applications will open between Friday the 29th of May and Wednesday, the 3rd of June. We will close earlier if we reach 100 applications.

Autistic Parents UK is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our incredible team. We are a fully user-led registered charity, offering peer support, webinars, training, signposting and resources on lived Autistic parenthood.

We welcome anyone who would like to offer their time alongside us in our aim to support people at whatever stage they are at with their understanding of Autism and being Autistic. We strive to treat all people with understanding, respect and compassion and are dedicated to being inclusive of ALL Autistic parents and of the needs of our volunteers and beneficiaries. 

 

We want to proactively address all factors that cause barriers to entry for those involved in the running of APUK and those who access support. By joining Autistic Parents UK as a volunteer, you will be part of a compassionate and diverse community that strives to empower Autistic families.

Woman Video Conferencing

Group Session Supporter

Provide support in online discussion groups for Autistic parents, participating in discussions and supporting with administration of the groups. We aim to match you with groups that are of interest to you

Social Media/Content Creation

Create and post content on our social media channels to increase understanding and engagement. Can include designing graphics or content for graphics for use on our social media, websites and other materials. Create and/or collaborate on blog articles and monthly newsletters.

Fundraising

 

Raise funds through grant applications and other fundraising activities and events to support the charity's mission. Help plan and co-ordinate other awareness events and / or represent APUK at outside events.

Admin Support

General admin as required. Help manage the APUK inboxes, signpost people to support. Help update the website, proofread documents and other tasks as required.

Going live

Live Event Support

Help plan Q&As and secure speakers, provide background tech support using Zoom/ restream to monitor. Transcribe audio and video content to make it more accessible.
