Supporting Neurodivergent Families

Antenatal, Birth, and Postnatal Care in Dudley

Our Partnership

Autistic Parents UK, in proud collaboration with New Baby Network CIC, has successfully delivered this ground breaking project for neurodivergent families across the Dudley Borough. This milestone initiative was made possible by the generous funding of Dudley CVS and stands as a testament to our commitment to providing high-quality, specialized support.

Our Mission

We understand the unique challenges and needs that Neurodivergent families face during pregnancy, birth, and the early days of parenthood (the first 1001 days). The project aimed to create a supportive and understanding environment, equipping families with resources to navigate this journey with confidence.

Project Achievements & Impact

Through this groundbreaking initiative, we have successfully delivered specialized support to Neurodivergent parents-to-be, parents of Neurodivergent children, and Neurodivergent families across the Dudley Borough:

  • Peer Support Sessions: We established a monthly network that connected families with trained Neurodivergent peer supporters, creating a safe, inclusive space for sharing experiences and building lasting community bonds.

  • Fully Funded Peer Support Training: We empowered a new cohort of Neurodivergent parents by providing comprehensive, free peer support training, resulting in a strengthened network of informed local advocates.

  • Sensory Birth Kit: Addressing the critical role of sensory processing, we launched a loanable birth kit scheme, providing families with tools and strategies to create comfortable, personalized birth environments.

  • Neurodivergent-Focused Antenatal Course: Led by practitioners trained by the University of Worcester, NCT, and BfN, this specialist course equipped participants with essential skills for pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood, with a specific focus on communication and sensory adaptations.
