Recent Research On Fabricated Or Induced Illness (FII)
Being an Autistic parent can raise unique challenges that historically have been poorly supported. Autistic Parents UK is an Autistic-led Charity (CIO) and is committed to supporting Autistic parents in a number of ways:
-
online peer support groups (larger and smaller groups)
-
monthly webinars and live Q&A sessions
-
monthly book giveaways
-
local peer support groups
-
volunteer-led one to one peer support sessions
-
professional training
We are committed to working reflectively and flexibly to improve our support offering and have many plans for future development.
Peer Support
We have prioritised our peer support offering and have a number of different ways to access this service.
We have a Facebook peer support group & Discord Server. We have regular online peer support group sessions and several small peer support chat groups with 4-8 people for more in-depth.
We also have volunteer-led one-to-one peer support.
Events & Training
We hold monthly webinars with guest speakers that focus on improving the lives of Autistic parents.
All of our events are fully funded for Autistic parents in the UK.
We also hold regular Live Q&A sessions with Kieran Rose The Autistic Advocate.
We offer professional training and have delivered to a number of organisations including the NHS. Contact us for details.
Local Groups
We currently support our volunteers in facilitating a number of local peer support groups.
If you would like to set up a group in your area with our support, register interest in attending a group or get involved in another way, please visit our local groups page for more information.
At the moment we are supporting people to set up a local group on our Discord server before setting up face to face meetings.
Giveaways
We hold monthly book giveaways for Autistic parents and plan to build libraries of books and resources for our local groups to increase accessibility of literature relevant to Autistic parents, supporters and allies.
We are also building free resources for Autistic parents and professionals and supporters of Autistic Parents.
