About the Event

The NEST Approach is an approach to supporting autistic young people in crisis which is adapted from the Low Arousal Approach. The approach focuses on using a range of strategies that focus on the reduction of stress, fear and frustration and seeks to prevent aggression and crisis situations while avoiding punitive consequences and restraint: https://www.lowarousal.com/

This is Part 2 of a 2 part series.

  • Part 1 (Wednesday 18th Jan at 7:30pm) of the talk focuses on a range of strategies that can be used while a young person is in crisis.
  • Part 2 (this event) focuses on working together with young people to problem solve, in order to reduce the likelihood of reaching crisis in the future.

Andy is a 25 year old autistic man and the founder of Spectrum Gaming, an online community for autistic young people. Spectrum Gaming has a strong focus on advocacy - they work with autistic young people to enable their voices to be heard, so all of their talks are coproduced with them.
