About the Event

Shona Murphy, postgraduate researcher, Autism professional, academic and Autistic mother to two Autistic children.

In this webinar, Shona will summarise neurodiversity, the neurodiversity movement and the neurodiversity paradigm. She will explore the difference between them all and why it's important we understand the difference before we co-opt the language. This talk will also cover how the paradigm we use influences research, policies, practice and outcomes.

Shona has an MA in Autism and is currently undertaking a PhD researching the experiences of parents of Autistic children who are falsely accused of Fabricated and Induced Illness. She teaches on the critical Autism studies modules at Edge Hill University and works as an Autism trainer and a mentor to Autistic people.
